Why shouldn't I use a cheap extension cord outside?

Cheap indoor extension cords aren’t sealed well enough for outdoor moisture. Rain seeps into the plugs or cord jacket, causing current leakage that trips the GFCI. Use a cord rated for outdoor use with a thick, rubberized jacket and molded, watertight plugs.
