Why does the NUC 8 Bean Canyon have such a sparse rear panel?

Intel designed the Bean Canyon expecting you to use the front Thunderbolt 3 port for a dock, which handles Ethernet, USB, displays, and charging. The rear panel is intentionally minimal — just one USB-A, one HDMI, one Ethernet, and the power jack — for a clean, essential-only setup.
