Why does my chainsaw chain keep coming off?

A loose chain is usually the problem — tighten it so only about 1/8 inch of drive links show in the bar groove. If that doesn’t fix it, check for unevenly worn bar rails, a packed bar groove, or worn sprockets. A dull chain that bounces can also pop off, so keep it sharp.
