Why did Thom Yorke want to ditch rock music entirely for Kid A?

The stress of promoting OK Computer drove Thom Yorke to move away from rock entirely. He drew from electronic music, ambient, krautrock, jazz, and 20th-century classical, cutting up words at random to create abstract lyrics.
