Which side of Niagara Falls is cheaper to stay on while still being able to see both falls?

The American side is cheaper — hotel prices are lower and you can walk to Bridal Veil Falls, Goat Island, and Maid of the Mist without a car. With a passport, you can cross the Rainbow Bridge on foot for free to enjoy the better Canadian views too.
