Which sensor is better for obstacle avoidance in a dark room?

dToF sensors are usually the better bet. They work in complete darkness, are simpler, cheaper, and have no moving parts, unlike traditional LIDAR which is overkill for avoiding a coffee table. dToF gives you a depth map without the bulk or cost of a mechanical setup.
