When should I replace the sprocket on my chainsaw?

Replace the sprocket when the teeth look like shark fins—concave and hooked inward. A new sprocket has sharp, square-ish teeth. Other signs include the chain getting loose faster than usual or drive links skipping under load. Replace the sprocket with every second or third new chain, and never run a new chain on a worn sprocket.
