When should I replace an extension cord?

Replace an extension cord as soon as it feels warm, shows heat, visible cracks, or stiffness. A warm cord means it’s overheating from internal damage or being overloaded. Also toss it if you see frayed insulation, exposed wire, or cuts. Don’t mess around with a cord that’s been pinched, run over, or left outside — this is not where you save ten bucks.
