Purple Rain was recorded primarily between August 1983 and March 1984 at several studios, including Prince’s Kiowa Trail home studio and the Warehouse in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, as well as Sunset Sound in Los Angeles. It was released on June 25, 1984, by Warner Bros. Records.
