What type of mousepad is best for reducing static buildup?

Aluminum or other conductive hard pads kill static. Cloth mousepads are the worst, especially in dry winter air with sleeve friction. Plastic hard pads are better but not ideal. Aluminum or carbon fiber dissipates charge effectively.
