What thickness desk pad is better for a heavy mechanical keyboard?

5mm is usually the right call for a heavy mechanical keyboard. A 2mm pad does almost nothing to level out small imperfections or absorb vibration, so your keyboard may rock or wobble. 5mm smooths minor unevenness and deadens sound better, but look for a dense rubber or neoprene core—soft foam can feel mushy under a heavy board.
