What should I keep my pool pH at?

Keep your pool pH between 7.4 and 7.6. That narrow band keeps chlorine working effectively—above 7.8 makes chlorine lazy, below 7.2 turns water aggressive and stings your eyes. Test weekly in summer with cheap test strips and adjust with pH increaser or decreaser as needed.
