What should I check first if my pool pump is losing prime?

Start with the pump lid o-ring — it’s the most common cause. Wipe it down, apply pool lube, and make sure the lid is tight. Nine times out of ten that fixes it. If not, check the drain plug, pump basket lid, and suction line fittings for leaks.
