What natural remedies work for aphids and slugs in the garden?

Neem oil works better than soap spray for aphids — spray in the evening, avoid bees, and reapply after rain. For slugs, use a shallow dish of cheap beer sunk into the soil, replaced every few days. Diatomaceous earth also works but is useless when wet. Both methods are cheap, effective, and won’t harm the rest of your garden.
