What kind of lock should I use for my cooler?

A simple padlock works. Just run it through the hasp already on the cooler—most decent coolers have one. Don’t buy a special “cooler lock”; they’re overpriced. A metal padlock is fine, just make sure it’s corrosion-resistant for camping. This stops opportunistic theft, not determined thieves with bolt cutters.
