What is the ideal lap swimming temperature?

78 to 82°F (25-28°C) is the ideal range. Warmer than 82°F and you’ll overheat; colder than 78°F and you’ll shiver. Competitive pools run 77-80°F, but for normal lap swimmers, 80-82°F is comfortable. Go warmer if you’re pregnant, have joint issues, or do slow recovery laps.
