What is the best way to disinfect a bird feeder?

Use a diluted bleach solution (1 part bleach to 9 parts water) every two weeks during spring. Soak the feeder, scrub, rinse thoroughly, and let it dry completely before refilling. Plain soap and water won’t kill diseases like salmonella or avian pox, and vinegar or essential oils aren’t strong enough.
