What inspired Miles Davis to make Sketches of Spain?

A flamenco dancer kicked it off. Miles Davis’s wife Frances dragged him to see Roberto Iglesias perform, and he was so inspired he bought every flamenco record he could find — which led directly to the collaboration with Gil Evans on Sketches of Spain.
