What gauge extension cord should I use for a 14-amp mower?

Use a 12-gauge cord. A thinner 14-gauge cord might work for runs under 50 feet, but voltage drop under load will heat up the cord and mower. For runs over 50 feet, or to avoid worry, go straight to 12-gauge. Also make sure it’s outdoor rated (SJTW) with a grounded plug.
