What does the light on my extension cord mean?

It’s just a power indicator — a simple neon or LED bulb that tells you the cord is getting electricity. If the light is off when nothing works, the problem is upstream (outlet, breaker, or cord). If it’s on, the problem is downstream (device or connection). Some higher-end cords have a separate surge protection light, but the basic glow is just “I’m alive.”
