Thunderbolt 3 dock vs USB-C hub: USB-C hub wins for basic port needs

A Thunderbolt 3 dock works with the M1 MacBook Air, but it’s overkill if you just need USB-A ports and HDMI. A $20-40 USB-C hub does the same job for a fraction of the $200+ cost. Only go Thunderbolt if you need daisy-chained high-speed storage or multiple high-res displays.
