Should I use stabilized or unstabilized chlorine for my pool?

Use stabilized chlorine (with CYA) for outdoor pools to protect against sunlight, and unstabilized chlorine for shocking or indoor pools to avoid CYA buildup. Tablets are stabilized; cal hypo is unstabilized. Test CYA monthly and switch between them to prevent chlorine lock.
