Should I use ECC RAM for video encoding?

Probably not. ECC RAM catches rare single-bit memory errors, but video encoding is a sequential, compute-heavy task where a flipped bit might cause a single corrupted pixel, not a crash. Heat, power fluctuations, and bad drivers are bigger stability risks. ECC requires pricier workstation hardware with lower clock speeds, so you’re better off with fast non-ECC RAM and a good CPU cooler.
