Should I use ECC RAM for my home database server?

Probably not worth it. ECC RAM catches rare memory errors, but on a consumer machine, a bit flip from cosmic rays happens maybe once every few years. The real cost is the compatible motherboard and CPU, which are pricier and limit your ecosystem. Your money is better spent on a solid UPS, a good backup strategy (3-2-1 rule), or faster NVMe storage.
