Should I use a CYA reducer or just drain and refill my pool?

Drain and refill. CYA reducers are slow, finicky, and don’t work well enough to fix high levels. Draining removes the water containing CYA, which doesn’t break down naturally. If you can’t fully drain, do a partial drain of 25–50%. Anything else is a temporary patch that usually ends with you draining anyway.
