Don’t use a cheater plug on an old power tool. Removing the ground eliminates the safety path for fault current, turning you into the ground if the tool shorts. An extension cord makes it worse by adding resistance and voltage drop. Instead, use a grounded three-prong extension cord, replace the tool’s plug, or install a GFCI outlet.
