Should I update my BIOS just for new RAM?

Probably not. Most modern motherboards auto-detect standard RAM capacities and speeds without a BIOS update. Only update if the RAM doesn’t work at all — system won’t boot, crashes, or runs at a weirdly low speed. Don’t preemptively flash a new BIOS for better performance; it probably won’t help and risks bricking the board.
