Should I repair a damaged extension cord plug or replace it?

Replace the whole end. Don’t try to tape or splice a cracked or broken plug—it invites arcing and fire. A new plug end costs a few bucks and installs in five minutes with a screwdriver. If the cord itself is frayed or nicked, cut back to good insulation and replace the plug; if damage is in the middle, buy a new cord.
