Should I get a rigid or soft mouse pad base for an uneven desk?

A rigid base wins on uneven desks because it resists bending and stays mostly flat instead of sagging into low points or wrinkling. The trade-off is it won’t conform to deep dips, but for typical minor unevenness, rigid is better than a soft base that amplifies bumps. If your desk is genuinely warped, fix the desk first.
