Should I get a pool heat pump or a gas heater?

Get a heat pump unless you need fast heating or live where it’s often below 50°F. Heat pumps are cheaper to run, last longer (10–15 years vs 5–10), and cost about a third of gas to operate. Gas heaters heat faster and work better in cold weather, but cost more in fuel over time.
