Should I choose an optical or laser mouse sensor for gaming on a cloth mousepad?

Pick an optical sensor. It’s more consistent on fabric surfaces, while laser sensors can get jittery on coarse weave cloth pads, causing cursor jumps. Optical sensors are simpler and more predictable, and they don’t go haywire if you lift the mouse. Just avoid reflective surfaces, which you shouldn’t use for a mousepad anyway.
