Adding more DDR3 RAM to an old platform is a dead-end investment—16GB is still fine for most tasks, and the $50–80 is better saved for a new CPU, motherboard, and DDR4/DDR5. A platform upgrade delivers a much bigger performance jump than extra RAM, unless you have a specific workload that absolutely needs 32GB right now and can’t afford a full upgrade.
