Matching RAM vs mixing RAM: Buy the exact same stick or replace the whole kit

Mixing RAM is a gamble — even matching speed and CL on paper can cause instability from different die batches or PCB revisions. You’ll end up troubleshooting crashes or manually tweaking voltages. Buy the exact same stick (same brand, model, speed, timings) or get a matched 2x16GB kit and sell your old one. Don’t try to push faster RAM to match slower sticks or compromise on speed — it often fails anyway.
