Is it safe to connect two extension cords together?

Don’t do it. Daisy-chaining extension cords is a fire risk and a tripping hazard. Every connection adds resistance and heat, and two cords create weak points where plugs can expose live prongs. If you must, use the same gauge, keep combined length under 50 feet, and run only a light load—but just buy a longer cord instead.
