Is DDR5 worth it for playing older games?

No. Pre-2020 games were designed for DDR4 and don’t saturate its bandwidth, so you gain zero real-world fps. Early DDR5 kits can even have worse latency than good DDR4, hurting performance in older titles. Stick with DDR4 and spend the savings on a faster GPU or SSD.
