How was the vocal reverb on "Kashmir" achieved?

The reverb was recorded naturally in the stairwell of Headley Grange, the band’s rented country house. They placed a microphone at the bottom of the stairwell while Robert Plant sang from halfway up, using the stone echo instead of artificial reverb.
