How tight should my chainsaw chain be?

A chain that’s too tight binds the bar and wears out parts, but too loose is dangerous. Adjust it so the chain touches the bottom of the bar rails but still pulls freely by hand. After running, tug the chain—it should snap back against the bar, not droop. Do this every time you refuel.
