How should I roll a mousepad to avoid creases?

Roll it with the surface facing inward (rubber out). The rubber base develops permanent folds when compressed on the inside of the roll; rolling surface-inward puts the rubber under gentle tension on the outside, which is less likely to set a crease. It also protects the fabric surface from dirt and oils.
