Tap it, don’t wash it. Take the filter outside and tap it firmly against the inside of a trash can to knock out 90% of the dust. If it’s still dirty, use a soft brush to gently brush the pleats in one direction. Water turns dust into mud and can cause mold or a clogged motor.
