How much RAM do I need for running virtual machines?
32GB is the sweet spot for VMs. With 16GB, running more than one VM or a serious VM with 8-16GB assigned will choke your system. 32GB lets you keep the host responsive while giving VMs room to breathe—like assigning 12GB to a main VM, leaving 16GB for the host, and having 4GB spare for a small test VM or Docker. Skip 64GB unless you’re running six VMs at once.
