How much RAM do I need for a VST-heavy production setup?

16GB is the new minimum. 8GB will cause crackles, stutters, and out-of-memory errors with modern sample libraries like Kontakt, Omnisphere, and Spitfire. 32GB is becoming common for serious work, but 16GB is where you stop fighting your computer. Don’t save sixty bucks on RAM.
