How does asymmetric dual channel RAM work when mixing an 8GB and 16GB stick?

The first 8GB on each stick pairs in dual channel, and the remaining 8GB on the 16GB stick runs single channel. This is called asymmetric dual channel or Intel Flex Mode. You’ll see a small performance hit only when using more than 16GB of RAM, but for everyday work and gaming it’s fine.
