How do I winterize a pool without draining it completely?

Lower the water level to below the skimmer (about 6-12 inches), then blow out the return and skimmer lines with a shop vac or compressor until all water is out. Plug the lines before removing the vac, add winterizing chemicals, and cover the pool. Don’t drain it fully — that can pop the liner or crack the shell.
