How do I maintain a Roland RE-201 (or vintage tape echo) for long life?

Clean the tape path every few hours with isopropyl alcohol, replace the hardened pinch roller, and use fresh tape from Quantegy or ATR. Store the unit upright and covered, and don’t leave tape threaded when off.
