Clean the condenser coils monthly during heating season, check and rinse the filter, and keep water moving. Dirty coils are the number one killer of efficiency. In freezing temps, run the pump enough to prevent freezing or use the heat pump’s built-in freeze protection mode. If shutting down for winter, drain the heat pump properly to avoid cracking the heat exchanger.
