How do I get rid of fish smell in a cooler?

Use bleach. Soap and water won’t cut it because fish oils and proteins bond to plastic. Fill the cooler with a gallon of water plus about a quarter cup of bleach, let it sit for an hour or overnight, then rinse thoroughly and dry in the sun with the lid open. Always dry it completely before storing to prevent moisture from breeding the smell.
