How do I fix a pool pump that hums but doesn't push water?

Prime the pump by turning it off, unscrewing the clear lid, filling the strainer basket with a hose until full, then tightening the lid and turning it back on. If that doesn’t work, check for debris in the basket, a stuck skimmer weir door, a closed suction valve, or low pool water level. Don’t let the pump run dry for more than a minute or two to avoid overheating the seal.
