How do I convert my pool to saltwater?
It’s simpler than you think. You don’t drain the pool or redo the plumbing. You just buy a salt chlorine generator, install it in the return line after the filter, dump in pool salt (40–50 pounds per 2,000 gallons), and let the pump run for 24 hours. Then turn on the generator and set the output level. You’ll still need to test cyanuric acid, but you’re done buying and storing chlorine tablets. Salt cells wear out every 3–5 years and cost a couple hundred to replace.
