How do I calculate combined chlorine in my pool?

Combined chlorine is total chlorine minus free chlorine. First measure free chlorine with a DPD test kit, then add a reagent to measure total chlorine. Subtract free from total. Keep combined chlorine below 0.5 ppm; higher means you need to shock your pool.
