How did The Jesus and Mary Chain get signed to Creation Records?

Glaswegian musician Bobby Gillespie heard The Jesus and Mary Chain’s demo tape and passed it to his friend Alan McGee at Creation Records, which led to one of the defining noise-pop bands of the 1980s getting signed.
